About – Morgan: The March of Progress

113 years of history

We are delighted to announce that our long-awaited book, "Morgan: The March of Progress", which we have been working on for the last couple of years, is now available to buy.

The book covers the history of the company from 1909 to 2022. It explains the company's origins and charts the various evolutions and changes of direction that have taken place over the last 113 years. Follow the Morgan story from the ingeniously simple and cheap Runabout cyclecar of the Edwardian period all the way through to the modern era, via the Aero 8 and the modern V-twin 3-Wheeler, to the latest CX-generation four wheelers and the Super 3 today.

Particular focus is given to the use of the cars, especially motorsport and how that drove developments to the products. The impact of the MSCC, and other Morgan clubs around the world, in the popularity and growth of Morgans features strongly in the cars' history. There is also a chapter on the history of the MSCC itself and what it offers today.

I have been lucky enough to see many of the 21st-century developments at first-hand, in my role as the editor of the MSCC's magazine Miscellany, and having had Morgans in our family since 1966 I have always had a close affection for the marque. "Morgan children" either love them or hate them, but exciting rides to school had me hooked from a young age. There are faster cars on the market, but few are more exhilarating to travel in. The opportunity to bring the company's history to life in a book was too good to turn down. With a combination of Offstone Publishing and the archives of both the Morgan Sports Car Club and the Morgan Motor Company, I hope we have produced something which offers an interesting and informative read.
